Two Soviet films (THE FALL OF THE ROMANOV DYNASTY and THE MAN WITH A MOVIE CAMERA) that GME distributes to the North American university market are playing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in November.

Read MoreLast month, Kino Lorber released Nancy Buirski’s 2023 documentary DESPERATE SOULS, DARK CITY, AND THE LEGEND OF ‘MIDNIGHT COWBOY’ on DVD in North America. GME provided scenes from Jonas Mekas’ film REPORT FROM MILLBROOK (1965-1966) and SCENES FROM THE LIFE OF ANDY WARHOL (1990, from THE SIXTIES QUARTET, 1990-1999) for this film. GME also distributes ten titles on Blu-Ray, DVD and DSL from Kino Lorber to the North American university market.
Read MoreSince September, the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive has hosted a retrospective of the work of experimental filmmaker, painter, and stained glass artist Jerome Hiler. Hiler appears with his partner Nathaniel Dorsky in the work of Warren Sonbert, whose catalogue of experimental films, dating back to the 1960s, is exclusively represented by Gartenberg Media Enterprises. Notably, Hiler and Dorsky show up in the final sequences of Sonbert’s THE TENTH LEGION (1967) and NOBLESSE OBLIGE (1981).

GME is also proud to distribute Gance’s LA ROUE on DVD, to the North American university market, in conjunction with Flicker Alley. GME additionally distributes Gance’s J’ACCUSE (1919) on DVD with the same label.

GME represents the work and legacy of Warren Sonbert, and currently distributes five of his films as DSL downloads: AMPHETAMINE (1966), THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (1967), HALL OF MIRRORS (1966), THE TENTH LEGION (1967), and WHERE DID OUR LOVE GO? (1966). FRIENDLY WITNESS, along with the rest of Sonbert’s montage films, will become available for institutional acquisition and rental through GME in the near future.
