Coinciding with the centennial of his birth, Film at Lincoln Center and The Jewish Museum in New York, are mounting (beginning this week) screenings and exhibitions dedicated to the life, art and legacy of Jonas Mekas's 70-year career. GME is concurrently celebrating the legacy of Mekas’s storied filmmaking career. In addition to the DVD editions of The Films of Jonas Mekas that GME has long distributed to our institutional buyers, we have recently also made available high quality downloadable .mp4 files of his films for digital site licenses (DSL) to our university clientele, including the recent release of REMINISCENCES OF A JOURNEY TO LITHUANIA (1972) (included in 3 JOURNEYS TO LITHUANIA).

GME is pleased to present the complete INDEX Edition Collection from Austria, now available to our North American university colleagues as DVD/DSL bundles. The label INDEX Edition was founded in 2004 by sixpackfilm and Medienwerkstatt Wien. Its aim is to make available previously hard to find moving image works in digital editions. Similar to a small publishing house for quality literature, INDEX Edition releases and distributes audiovisual publications relevant to the history of Austrian (as well as Eastern European) film, video, and media art.

Our most recent releases from the Re:voir Collection include the first four fiction feature films by Robert Kramer, as well as stylistically diverse films centered around three locales—New York, Brussels and Lithuania: Jackie Raynal’s HOTEL NEW YORK and NEW YORK STORY; the travel diaries 3 JOURNEYS TO LITHUANIA, by Jonas and Adolfas Mekas, and Pola Chapelle (Adolfas’s wife); and a City Symphony by Belgian filmmaker Boris Lehman, MAGNUM BEGYNASIUM BRUXELLENSE (1978).
