On Friday, January 26th, at 6:45pm, both Vivian Ostrovsky’s U.S.S.A. and Peter Weibel’s TV & VT-WORKS, are screening in the DINAMO: Information program at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). Both of these filmmakers are distributed by GME to universities in North America.
Read MoreOn January 26th, the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center will present the 2024 Jerome Robbins Dance Division Annual Symposium, a “day-long exploration of Martha Graham and her legacy as her company celebrates its centennial anniversary.” In the 1960s and ‘70s, Graham and her dance company were documented extensively by photographer Jack Mitchell, whose collection GME proudly represents.
Read MoreFrom Tuesday, January 23rd to Sunday, January 28th, the French Institute Alliance Française will present the seventh annual Animation First Film Festival. The program Best of Annecy 2023, which highlights work from last year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival, will play on Friday, January 26th, at 9:45pm, at the FIAF Florence Gould Hall. The late Adrienne Mancia, a close friend and colleague of GME President Jon Gartenberg going back to the early 1970s, when they both worked in the Department of Film at The Museum of Modern Art, was one of the first curators to introduce the Annecy Film Festival in North America. She was also a jury member in 1993.
Read MoreOn Wednesday, January 24th, at 4pm, the experimental short film QUEER DREAM TRIPTYCH, made by GME consultant Matt McKinzie, will screen in Film Diary NYC’s third annual film festival, titled “Coldest Winter.” Organized by Saint Piñero and Sage Ó Tuama, Film Diary NYC “programs experimental non-fiction films that capture the personal history and daily experiences of the filmmaker and the world they encounter.” GME is proud to distribute diary films of personal and poetic nature to the North American university market.
Read MoreAs part of their Essential Cinema series, a collection of films screened on a repertory basis, Anthology Film Archives will show five works by Soviet filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein from January 13th to January 24th. GME is proud to distribute three Eisenstein titles to the North American university market — BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN (1926/1930), OCTOBER (1928), and OLD AND NEW (1929) — all of which are featured in Anthology’s program.

Notably, a mid-’60s sci-fi flick by Jean-Luc Godard returned to the big screen, while the Film-Makers’ Cooperative hosted a two-night benefit screening of an infamous Andy Warhol film — which GME President Jon Gartenberg was instrumental in rediscovering, in the mid-1980s, while working at The Museum of Modern Art.

Dreyer from January 6th to January 13th. Five additional works by Dreyer, distributed by GME on DVD and/or Blu-Ray to the North American university market, are a perfect complement to this program.

GME distributes ALPHAVILLE to the North American university market as a Blu-Ray, DVD, and DSL file.

Read MoreOn December 2nd, 2023, GME President Jon Gartenberg provided background and context regarding the recovery of Andy Warhol’s film oeuvre at the 60th anniversary benefit screening of Warhol’s SLEEP, hosted by the Film-Makers’ Cooperative at The Bunker at 222 Bowery. Gartenberg was instrumental in the excavation and preservation of Warhol’s films in the 1980s.
