GME would also like to highlight the strong connection between filmmaker Warren Sonbert and Alfred HItchcock. Sonbert wrote a brilliant critical analysis of MARNIE, reproduced in a special issue of Framework: The Journal of Cinema and Media in its original typed and handwritten format. In addition, Sonbert modeled his film A WOMAN’S TOUCH (1983), after MARNIE, including the presence of the color red throughout the film. Sonbert has also written that the last four shots of A WOMAN’S TOUCH parallel the gradual process of domestication of the female protagonist in Hitchcock’s movie.
