GME has been involved for the past 20 years in excavating media collections from remote warehouse storage and private collections. We make an item-by-item assessment of the assets, construct detailed databases about the intellectual property and the physical holdings, and contextualize the cultural and historic importance of the respective archives. Through this process GME has successfully placed moving image collections with high profile cultural organizations, including the Packard Humanities Institute, the Library of Congress, and Harvard University, as well as numerous institutions in Europe, Australia, and the Middle East.
The current media archives on which GME is currently working on placing include the JFK Collection, comprising television and radio commercials from John F. Kennedy’s Presidential campaign, and I MARRIED JOAN, a 1950’s television series that was a competitor to the I LOVE LUCY show.
I MARRIED JOAN is an American situation comedy that originally aired on NBC from 1952 to 1955. It starred actress Joan Davis as the manic, scatterbrained wife of a mild-mannered community judge, the Honorable Bradley Stevens (played by Jim Backus). Over the course of 3 seasons, ninety-eight (98) episodes were produced in total. GME has acquired the 35mm preprint materials for the entire series, and is now offering this collection for sale to an archival institution. The physical elements in GME’s possession also contain the original commercials by General Electric, the sponsor of the series.
