All About Legacy: Placing Archives
Jon Gartenberg, President of Gartenberg Media Enterprises (GME), speaks about the long term strategy of placing archives with cultural institutions (museums, university special collections, and libraries). His talk covers his cumulative experiences working with archives for other organizations, which led to the founding of GME in 1998. An emphasis is placed on the steps necessary in terms of organizing, cataloguing, and promoting an individual collection, together with the outreach and placement process, all in the service of promoting the legacy of the artistic assets. Jon is joined by GME’s Fine Arts Curator David Deitch, who provides a visual survey of the photography collections that GME currently represents: Jack Mitchell, Hugh Bell, and Raimondo Borea.
